WOW!! The group from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church from Waycross Ga had a BLAST!!! All of us enjoyed out stay at Macafee & the view was breath taking. The leaves were so beautiful.
We would all be glad to go back anytime for another visit. My husband did not get to attend due to work but I am planning for us to go back the spring or summer of 2011. Thanks to Sonya, Paula, Diane & all the gang for taking excellent care of us. Hope to see you Barbar Jones
BLESSINGS AND MOREWe had the pleasure of hosting an adult group from Pleasant Valley Church in Waycross, Ga. for three nights in October. We knew for sure our location and scenery would be a huge success….after all, God is in charge of that part. We had quite a bit of anxiety about different issues with the facility because a large group had not used the rooms in a while. But we put down new floors and put up new curtains, painted and cleaned and spiffed, planted flowers, cleaned out ponds and battled leaves. We became masters a bargain shopping (mostly Diane)….and things turned out beautifully (turns out God was in charge of that part, too!).
Then, we stressed about whether or not we could make it work with the food, and the laundry and making our guests feel welcome and comfortable. So God sent us a group that were gracious and kind and forgiving of our glitches and boosted our confidence (yep, that was God, again).
The weather couldn’t have been nicer, cool crisp mornings and evenings perfect to sit by the campfire or the fireplace in lobby, and warm sunny days for exploring the area and fishing. (I must say this group had as much fun fishing as any group of children we have seen at the trout farm). The leaf color was just about at the peak and was just beautiful (I guess you know that was all God’s doing, too).
What a blessing to hear the group gather around and sing hymns and gospel songs with the guitar. What a greater blessing to be able to join in with the group in their songs of praise. It was wonderful to hear people sharing and laughing, making memories to reflect on in the days to come.
We have been so very blessed to make new friends at Macafee Mountain, while providing a place for people to rest, relax and renew!!!!! I think we will frame your group picture and display it, much like some businesses frame and display the first dollar they earn….while we’d love to make some money we are finding out that we are really about the people!!!
